Minutes of Business Session
The Southern Area Instructors (SAIA) summer meeting was held at the Clarion Inn & Suites, Gatlinburg Tennessee. The meeting was hosted by the Tennessee Job Training & Safety Program.
The business session was called to order by SAIA Chairman, Micheal Weltzheimer, on July 14, 2010 at 8:30 am.
Chairman Weltzheimer asked Doyle Totty, to lead the Invocation.
Chairman Weltzheimer asked Keith Brooks, to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chairman Weltzheimer asked for the approval of minutes to the fall meeting held in Minneapolis, Minnesota in conjunction with the NUTSEA meeting. A motion was made by Danny Hayes, seconded by Glenn Cunningham, to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
Chairman Weltzheimer called for the presentation of new members. The following were presented for membership:

Garrett Addington – Kenergy Cooperative
Troy Stovall – Big River Electric Cooperative
Michael Willoughby – East Kentucky Power Cooperative
Jim McClure – Northeast Mississippi Electric Power Association
Jason Ginn – Shelby Energy Cooperative
Bobby Fincher – Snapping Shoals EMC
Tim Coulter – Rayle EMC
Sam Miller – Navarro Electric Cooperative
Randy Hall - CoServe
A motion was made by Jason Saunders, to approve those presented for membership. The motion was seconded by Michael Kelley. The motion was approved.
Chairman Weltzheimer started a discussion on the location for the 2011 Summer Meeting. Motion was made by Wendy Regan for the location to be Kansas City, Missouri (Power and Light District), on June 28-30, 2011. The summer meeting of 2012 will be held in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The motion was made by Danny Hayes. The motion was seconded by Glenn Cunningham. Motion was approved.
Chairman Weltzheimer called for a recess at 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM, Thursday, July 15, 2010.
The second half of the business session was called to order by SAIA chairman Micheal Weltzheimer on July 15, 2010.
Old Business
Chairman Weltzheimer opened discussion about updating and maintaining the SAIA directory. Anybody needing to update or change their information on the directory should send the new information to Michael Kelley of Alabama Statewide. The directory is on the SAIA Website.
Next, the Nominating Committee was appointed by Chairman Weltzheimer. Ron Cronan (chairman), Mike Bergeaux, Clarence Greene.
New Business
Chairman Weltzheimer opened discussion about appointing a committee to honor retirees of SAIA members. The Ad Hoc committee appointed by Chairman Weltzheimer is Jim Wright (chairman), Stan Rucker, and Micheal Weltzheimer.
Ray Pantel Award recipient was acknowledged by Chairman Weltzheimer. Doyle Totty was the recipient.
At this time New Business was concluded except for the thanks given to Danny Hayes and the other members from Tennessee Job Training & Safety Program for their effort, hard work, and diligence, in providing an excellent venue. Thanks were also given to TORCO Testing for providing the hospitality room. Danny Hayes made a motion to approve the business session as conducted and Glen Cunningham seconded the motion. With all members in attendance voting in favor of the motion, the meeting was approved and concluded at 4:30 PM July 15, 2010.
