Minutes of Business Session
The Southern Area Instructors Association (SAIA) autumn meeting was held at the Francis Marion Hotel. The meeting was hosted by the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina and South Carolina Statewide. The following meeting minutes were recorded by Wade Hurst, Oklahoma, SAIA Secretary and presented following the meeting agenda:
Call To Order
The meeting was called to order by SAIA Chairman, Michael Weltzheimer, Mississippi, on September 27, 2010 at 8:00 AM.
Prayer
Chairman Weltzheimer then asked Norm McDugle, Oklahoma to lead the Invocation.
Pledge
Chairman Weltzheimer then asked Danny Hayes to led the attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of 2010 SAIA Summer Meeting Minutes
Chairman Weltzheimer asked for the approval of minutes for the spring meeting held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. A motion was made by Norm McDugle, Oklahoma, seconded by Danny Hayes, Tennessee, to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
Present/Accept New Members
Chairman Weltzheimer called for the presentation of new members. The following were presented for membership:

A motion was made by Glenn Cunningham, Georgia, to approve those presented for membership. The motion was seconded by James Long, Oklahoma. The motion was approved.
Report on 2011 SAIA Summer Meeting
1. 2011 – Kansas City, MO, June 28-30, 2011
2. 2012 – Gulf Shores, Alabama - Dates to be announced
Old Business
1. Committee report on recognizing retiring SAIA members in the future. Chairman will send out letter to be notified of retires from SAIA group. Then notify Micheal Weltzheimer, Mississippi, for plaque. The cost of this will be the obligation of the host state in registration fees.
2. Discussion about purging the membership. If a member does not attend a meeting in three years consecutive total of six meeting they will be purged at that time.
New Business
There were no new items to discuss at this time.
Election of 2011 SAIA Officers
Glenn Cunningham was nominated for the position of Chairman. With the nomination made, a motion was made from the floor and seconded to cease any balloting and proceed to install Glenn Cunningham, Georgia, as the new Chairman. The motion was seconded. A vocal vote was taken, with the “ayes” in favor, none opposed, and the new Chairman was elected.
Wade Hurst was nominated for the position of Vice-Chairman. With the nomination made, Stan Rucker, Mississippi, made the motion that the balloting cease and to install Wade Hurst, Oklahoma, as the new Vice-Chairman. Ken Guffy, Oklahoma, seconded the motion. A vocal vote was taken, with the “ayes” in favor, none opposed, and the new Vice-Chairman was elected.
The Secretary/Treasurer position was now up for selection. The Nominating Committee presented Jason Saunders, Alabama. A vocal vote was taken, with the “ayes” in favor, none opposed, and the Secretary/Treasurer was elected.

Presentation of Awards
Chairman Micheal Weltzheimer in his final act as Chairman presented newly elected Chairman Glenn Cunningham with the Chairman’s Gavel.
The past Chair Award will be presented to Micheal Weltzheimer at Kansas City, MO., by newly installed Chairman Glenn Cunningham.
Chairman Glenn Cunningham called for adjournment of the meeting at 9:00 AM. At this time, Ken Guffy, Oklahoma made the motion to adjourn the meeting. This was seconded by Danny Hayes, Tennessee, and with the membership in agreement, the meeting concluded and adjournd.
