The theme for this year’s
annual meting is: “Our legacy for responsibility and
excellence.” We’ve asked each of our speakers to incorporate the
theme into their remarks. The first to do so will be the November 20
luncheon keynote speaker Senator David Landis of Lincoln, Nebraska.
He portrays the life and times of Senator George W. Norris – one
of the strongest proponents in the United States Congress for public
power. Following our luncheon speaker, Kentucky Attorney General Ben
Chandler will be talking about the legacy for “Protecting
Consumers’ Best Interests.”He will specifically note the potential restructuring of the
electric utility industry. Ben Chandler will be followed on the
program by the vice president of RKS Research out of Clearwater,
Florida – Carmine Grastataro with the “Experiences With
Restructuring – What Recent Data Indicates.” The results of RKS
Research projects are publicized throughout the nation.
At our banquet that evening, we
will recognize long-time KET host for Comment on Kentucky, Al Smith,
with our Distinguished Rural Kentuckian Award. Kentucky’s most
prominent sports announcer, Cawood Ledford, will be our banquet
speaker.
On Tuesday morning, November 21, we
conclude our annual meeting program with a humorous presentation by
Pete Stamper and Bun Wilson of Renfro, and the capstone address by
Franklin County Family Court Judge, Reed Rhorer, addressing the
topic “Your Quality Of Life Legacy – Has Your Investment Been
Worth The Expense?”
