Blue Grass Energy's Britt Receives NFEC Award

Danny Britt, Blue Grass Energy board member and head of the Department of Agriculture at Eastern Kentucky University, received a Distinguished Service Award from the National Food and Energy Council at its annual conference in Branson, Missouri, on August 7. 

The award is given to a person whose individual accomplishments reflect support for agriculture, the utility industry, and the rural community.

Dr. Britt first began making contributions toward agribusiness with his Dairy Science research and papers at Michigan State University, and he continues 30 years later as chairman of the Department of Agriculture at Eastern Kentucky University. He joined the cooperative's board of directors in 1995. 

Through his efforts, Kentucky has been the recipient of a number of grants to enhance agriculture education and support regional vocational education. In 2000, Dr. Britt was the recipient of the Kentucky Honorary Farmer's Degree.
