Nolin RECC's CEO Receives Touchstone Energy's Distinguished Service Award
03/31/2003

During its February annual meeting, Touchstone Energy honored Nolin RECC CEO Mickey Miller with its highest honor - the Distinguished Service Award. Miller was presented the award for his passion and tireless efforts promoting the Touchstone Energy brand.

Miller first became involved with the concept of Touchstone Energy in 1993 and was elected to the first Touchstone Energy board of directors. He served as chairman of that board and continues to serve on the board today.

"Mickey Miller inspired trust, building working relationships across the nation to develop the brand steadily and cooperatively," said Palmetto Electric Co-op CEO Tom Upshaw while presenting the award to Mickey.

"With the enthusiasm rivaled only by the coming of electricity to the rural areas in the 1930s and '40s, Touchstone Energy
has reunited, revitalized and redefined electric co-ops," said Mickey during his acceptance remarks.

In accepting his award, Mickey noted the origin of the concept of Touchstone Energy as well as the origin of the national resolution calling for a national brand. He then cited the formation of a steering committee, a board of directors, and then the formation of the actual organization of Touchstone Energy five years ago. Currently, the membership of Touchstone Energy exceeds 600 cooperatives throughout the nation.
