Eighty-four high school juniors traveled to Washington, DC, the
week of June 17-24 as part of the 34th annual Kentucky Rural Electric
Washington Youth Tour.
During their weeklong trip, the students visited many of our national
capitals historic sites and museums and studied American history
and government. They also learned about the important role of electric
cooperatives in Americas economy and visited with around 1,400

from across America.
In addition to sightseeing, the students spent an entire day on

delegation. During those meetings, the students had the opportunity
to discuss current events with Kentuckys federal legislators.
The Kentucky students also participated in the national Rural Electric
