Kentucky Electric Co-ops Help
Hurricane Victims
9/17/99
Kentucky electric cooperatives have sent at least 36 crews of utility trucks and 145 workers to help restore electricity for the thousands of North Carolina homes battered by Hurricane Floyd.
Co-ops dispatched employees and contractors to help speed the massive job of getting the electricity back on in the state hardest hit by the hurricane.
Ron Sheets, president of the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives, said, "This kind of disaster shows the value of the national network of electric cooperatives. We have incredible resources to help each other out in times of trouble. Kentucky's electric cooperatives have sent crews to storm spots in the past, and other states have helped us when we've lost lines due to the weather. I hope our efforts help relieve the suffering of the Hurricane victims."
