More than 15,000 co-op members officially registered their attendance during this year’s series of 26 Kentucky electric co-op annual meetings. An additional 25,000-30,000 people accompanied those members to the meetings.

During each meeting, members exercised their ownership rights by electing corporate directors and receiving and acting upon reports from co-op managers.

At many meetings, in addition to transacting business, electric co-op members enjoyed free entertainment, viewed informational displays, and visited with local elected officials while their children and grandchildren enjoyed clowns, face painting, and carnival rides.

“The strong attendance at this year’s annual meetings is an indication of how highly Kentuckians value their local electric co-ops,” said Ron Sheets, president of the Kentucky Association of Electric Cooperatives. “And the time and effort that they put into these meetings is an indication of how much Kentucky’s electric co-ops value their members.”
