Fall Restraint Clarification
Beginning with the 2009 rodeo, the following clarifications have been issued by the Kentucky Lineman’s Rodeo Committee regarding the use of fall restraint (i.e. Buck Squeeze, Jelco, etc.) safeties during rodeo events:

There will be no time provisions granted for those choosing to use fall restraint belts and safeties.

• Those using fall restraint safeties will be required to use secondary safeties on event poles which require the lineman to climb above an obstacle.  Secondary safeties will not be necessary on poles to be climbed without obstacles (i.e. - pole climb event).

•
A fall restraint apparatus may be mounted on poles to be climbed prior to time starting.¹ However, only one (1) safety may be attached prior to time starting during team events that require more than 1 climber.

Any further questions regarding the use of fall restraint devices may be addressed during the provided 5 minute set up time at each event.

¹This allowance does not apply to the 2009 version of the hurt man rescue (Event C) for teams, individuals, or apprentices.

Can I use my own rope on the rope throw?
No. Use Rope furnished by rodeo officials - 3/8 poly non 3 strand.

Can I use something besides an eye nut for a weight on the rope throw (like a wrench)?
No, only provided eye nuts are acceptable.

Can I use two of the furnished eye nuts for the rope throw?
That should be okay.

What are the dimensions on the skills climb?
On the counter weight skills climb, 8 ft. from the ground for the first arm and 10 feet to the next arm. Short wood braces. The transformer should be hung according to RUS spec with a transformer on an A1.
